Shear Connections according to DIN 18000  
Using the RSTAB add-on module CONNECT, you can automatically dimension three typical shear connections for steel structures and design these joints according to DIN 18800. The connection is synoptically documented in a printout report including a 3D graphic with dimensioning for the design engineer.
Program Features

Connections with Web Cleats
  • Stress analysis of welds and web cleats
  • Realization of fillet or single-bevel (HV) welds
  • Desing of bolts, web cleats and girders for hole bearing and shear
  • Definable limitations for web cleat dimensions
  • Possibility of a connection with only one bolt according to DIN 18800, element 807
  • Possibility of a connection with pure axial force action (a tensile force joint), pure shear force action or a combination of these two forces

Connections with End Plate
  • Analysis of load transmission to a girder according to DIN 18800, element (744)
  • Design of all bolts for shear and hole bearing
  • Calculation and analysis of the stabilization moments (the torsional moment from lateral loads of a girder) that can be absorbed by bolts and end plate welds
  • Design of connection welds of seating cleat and end plate

Connections with Seating Cleats
  • Design of all bolts and connection welds
  • Analysis of absorbed stabilization moments (the torsional moment from lateral loads)
Input

Possible I-section connections with:
  • single- or double-sided web cleats,
  • end plate,
  • seating cleat and end plate as locking device.

CONNECT is fully integrated to RSTAB and offers comfortable graphic options for the member design.
Connections can be either dimensioned by the program or can be analyzed for user-defined input of a member thickness, welds, hole spacing and edge distances. Simultaneously, input data are checked for standard limiting distances and recommended weld thicknesses.

Bolt strength grades 4.6, 5.6, 8.8 and 10.9 can be selected for sizes M12 - M36 as fitted or black bolts. Connections can be realized using S 235 and S 355 steel grades. With CONNECT, you are perfectly ready for any system modifications, because all existing connections can be automatically redesigned to comply with current cross-sections and internal forces.
CONNECT operates in a familiar RSTAB environment and its control is intuitive.
