DYNAM Addition II. 7.xx

Analysis of Equivalent Lateral Loads for Seismic according to DIN 4149, EC 8 and IBC 2000

DYNAM Addition II. is the RSTAB add-on module and also represents an extension to the DYNAM Basic module. It is used to determine horizontal earthquake loads according to Eurocode 8, IBC 2000 or DIN 4149.
Program Features

Eurocode 8
  • Site classes A to C
  • Site parameter S
  • Horizontal ground acceleration Beta-0
  • Exponents k-d1 and k-d2
  • Constant acceleration T-B and T-C
  • Constant displacement T-D
  • Behavior coefficient q
  • Ratio of ground/earthquake acceleration a-g/g

IBC 2000
  • Seismic use group I to III
  • Seismic factor I E
  • Site class A to E
  • Site coefficients F a and F v
  • Maximum considered earthquake spectral response acceleration S MS and S M1
  • Design spectral response acceleration S DS and S D1
  • Seismic design category
  • Response modification coefficient R a
  • Seismic response coefficient C S
  • Equivalent lateral force procedure
  • Modal analysis procedure

DIN 4149
  • Earthquake zones 1 to 4
  • Standard values of the gravity parameters a0
  • Kappa factor for site soil influence
  • Seismic use groups 1 to 3
  • Calculation value of the horizontal acceleration cal a
  • Beta coefficient of the standardized response spectrum
  • Eigenperiod-dependent Z-factor for design spectrum
  • Eigenmode for analysis
  • Direction of the earthquake
Input

The relevant input variables according to the particular standard will be proposed by the program. However, you can edit them so that regulations similar to above mentioned standards are covered.

Analysis

Based on the eigenshapes of the system, the earthquake loads are determined separately in DYNAM Addition II., exported to RSTAB as static loads and superposed in load combinations (linear or quadratic superposition).
After the input of the structure in RSTAB, an eigenfrequency analysis with DYNAM Basic (this module is required to operate DYNAM Addition II.) will be done. Axial forces and additional considered masses are already incorporated in the calculation at this stage.
Next, the analysis parameters for each particular standard are entered in the DYNAM Addition II. module. The direction of the earthquake impact can be freely selected or is set automatically according to the governing direction of the eigenmode. The ordinate of the design spectrum can also be freely chosen or is calculated automatically.
