RSBUCK 7.xx

Buckling Modes and Critical Load Factors

As the add-on module to the RSTAB program, RSBUCK calculates the buckling modes of any RSTAB structure. The buckling modes belonging to the structure, including the corresponding bifurcation load, are determined member by member along with the critical load factor of the entire system.
The basis of the calculation is an eigenvalue analysis. Thus, RSBUCK results assist in accurately evaluating the bifurcation behavior of the entire structure. Together with the module RSIMP, it is a powerful tool to prove the buckling stability according to 2nd order theory.
Program Features
  • Automatic application of the topology data and boundary conditions from RSTAB
  • Graphics and animation of the buckling modes
  • Optional consideration of tension force effects
  • Determination of the effective lengths about the weak and strong axes with the buckling k coefficients
  • Output of the bifurcation load factor of the entire system for each buckling mode
  • Numerical output in spreadsheets with documentation for members without compression forces
  • User manual with analytic and practical examples for comparison
  • Transfer of the RSBUCK results into other modules for further evaluation, e.g. RSIMP to generate imperfections or KAPPA for flexural buckling analysis
Input

High clarity and user-friendliness are trademarks of RSBUCK. With just a few mouse clicks, you can select the number of buckling modes and the load case for analysis. The structural data and the boundary conditions set in the selected load case will automatically be imported from RSTAB.
As an alternative, you can edit the axial forces taken from RSTAB or manually define new normal forces.
Additional RSBUCK cases can be easily laid out to investigate the behavior of the structure under different load conditions.

Analysis and Results

For a better illustration of the RSBUCK results, the units can be adjusted independently from RSTAB. If there are no internal forces from RSTAB when RSBUCK is started, the program automatically starts the indispensable axial forces analysis before determining the buckling values.
The results of the buckling analysis are clearly listed in spreadsheets or graphically in the RSTAB window. The integration of RSBUCK within the RSTAB printout report makes it possible to look at all detailed results of the entire structure in one document.
