RSCOMBI 7.xx

Generation of Load Groups
and Load Combinations for RSTAB Cases

The add-on module RSCOMBI for RSTAB generates load groups and load combinations for various constellations of load cases.
New generations of codes require to analyze multiple load combinations for the ultimate limit state design and the serviceability limit state design. For large spatial structures, it is a difficult, error-prone and time-consuming job to compose all the combinations manually. RSCOMBI automates this procedure.
Program Features
  • Generation of load groups for non-linear analyses (including imperfections)
  • Generation of load combinations for linear analyses
  • The following codes and standards are supported:
    - European: EN 1990, including relevant National Annexes (Eurocode),
      EN 1995 (Eurocode 5)
    - American: ASCE 7, ACI 318-08
    - Canadian: CAN/CSA
    - Indian: IS 800
    - German: DIN 1055-100, DIN 1052: 2004-08, DIN 18800
  • Classification of load cases as 'Alternative', which means mutually exclusive
  • Automatic reduction of generated load groups by the preliminary analysis of extreme values for linear analysis results
  • Possibility to define imperfection-type load cases depending on selected ordinary load cases
  • Possibility to enter and save user-defined coefficients in addition to the default values
  • Two ways of ordering the generation results:
    - Results by actions according to the definition introduced in the relevant
      code for an easy check
    - Results by load groups/combinations according to the layout of the Data

navigator in RSTAB
  • Synoptic summary of results, including applied coefficients and information about actions and load cases
Input

The add-on module RSCOMBI is integrated in the RSTAB program. RSCOMBI imports load cases that have been defined in RSTAB and divides them into two categories. The first category includes ordinary load cases and the second one includes load cases with imperfections.
RSCOMBI defines code-compliant actions and allocates RSTAB load cases to them. Then, all considered load groups and load combinations are generated according to a selected code.
Consequently, these load groups and load combinations can be exported to RSTAB for the further analysis. It is not always necessary to consider all generated load groups or load combinations. Thus, they can be reduced automatically or manually before the export to RSTAB. The calculation time in RSTAB will be considerably shorter.

Analysis and Results

To extend the module application range, American, Canadian, and Indian standards have been newly implemented.
The EN 1990 code requires the ultimate limit state design and the serviceability limit state design. The ultimate limit state is analyzed in four design situations. The serviceability limit state occurs in three design situations.
RSCOMBI has two results tables. In the first table, results are diplayed by actions, the same way like definition of actions in codes. In the second table, generated load groups or load combinations are listed by load cases.
The output of numeric results is possible in the RSTAB printout report.
