COMPOSITE-BEAM 7.xx

Composite Girder Design according to Eurocode 4  

COMPOSITE-BEAM analyzes continuous composite girders according to Eurocode 4. This module can be used as the RSTAB add-on module or as an independent program that runs on RSTAB standards.
The structure and load input in this module is done through synoptic masks like those found in RSTAB. When the analysis is started, the static model is generated in RSTAB with all boundary conditions and loads. Consequently, a safe calculation of the internal forces using the ideal cross-section properties is guaranteed.
COMPOSITE-BEAM automatically analyzes the resulting internal forces and carries out all relevant analyses according to EC 4 and following the standards in EC 2 and EC 3.
Program Features
  • Single span or continuous beam with definable boundary conditions (support reactions, hinges)
  • Fully automatic determination of the effective cross-sections
  • User-defined construction supports in erection state
  • Handling of typical composite girder sections from I-sections with solid slabs, prefabricated slab with cast-in-place concrete or corrugated sheet with cast-in-place concrete
  • Concrete flange construction as solid slab with haunch
  • Possible steel girder cross-sections: rolled and singly symmetrical, welded I-sections 
  • Plastic design of class 1 and 2 cross-sections
  • Arbitrarily graded cross-sections over the length of the girder, with and without concrete encasements
  • Graded concrete flange and en-casement reinforcements over the length of the girder
  • Profile stiffeners, rectangular and circular web openings
Input  

Your control over the input is facilitated through 3D visualization.
The program uses various load types:
  • User-defined concentrated or distributed line and trapezoidal loads with specification of the concrete age on loading
  • Consideration of user-defined loads in construction stage, also as movable construction loads
  • Automatic load case combination
 
Analysis

Calculation of internal forces:
  • Calculation of the cross-section values according to methods 1 or 2
  • Analysis of the elastic internal forces with RSTAB
  • Redistribution of moments
Ultimate limit state design:
  • Analysis of the design bending and shear resistances with interaction
  • Partial shear connection with ductile connecting studs
  • Determination of the required shear connectors and their layout
  • Design for longitudinal shear in the slab
  • Output of the governing support reactions for the construction and composite stages, including the construction supports
  • Lateral torsional buckling analysis (continuous girders and cantilevers)
Serviceability limit state design:
  • Determination of deflection and camber with the ideal cross-section values from creep and shrinkage
  • Vibration check (eigenfrequency analysis)
  • Crack width control
  • Support reaction determination

 
Results and Output

The results are displayed in the spreadsheet masks. They are sorted by the required analysis standards and thus enable easy orientation.
Your interpretation of the results is facilitated through 3D visualization. All graphics can be edited and transferred to the printout report.
