DYNAM Addition II 8.xx

Addition to DYNAM Basic -
Generation of Equivalent Seismic Loads

Take advantage of this RSTAB add-on module to determine equivalent lateral loads for earthquakes according to the multi-modal response spectrum method:
  •  DIN 4149:2005-04
  •  DIN 4149:1981-04
  •  EN 1998-1:2004-11
  •  ENV 1998-1-1:1994
  •  IBC 2000
  •  IBC 2009-ASCE/SEI 7-05
DYNAM Addition II depends on the results of the natural frequency calculation provided by DYNAM Basic.

Features

  • Input of relevant design parameters conforming to standards
  • Graphical representation of design spectra including indication of position for design factor Sd
  • Output of modal masses, participation factors, equivalent masses and equivalent mass factors
  • Display of sums of equivalent mass factors to quickly evaluate the eigenmodes and eigenfrequencies that must be taken into account
  • Automatic export function to create RSTAB load cases and combinations according to SRSS superposition
  • Additional optional generation of load combinations according to SRSS and linear superposition rules
  • DIN 4149: soil conditions A-R, B-R, C-R, B-T, C-T, C-S or free
  • Eurocode 8: site class A to E or free
  • IBC 2000: section 1617 or 1618
  • IBC 2009: section 1613

Input

The input parameters that are relevant for the selected standards are suggested by DYNAM Addition II conforming to the rules. But it is also possible to edit them freely so that standards similar to the rules mentioned above can approximately be determined as well.

Calculation

Subsequent to the input of geometrical data in RSTAB, DYNAM Basic (required to use DYNAM Addition II) performs the analysis of eigenfrequencies. If masses are to be considered for the calculation, they are already taken into account.
Depending on the selected standard, you enter the corresponding calculation parameters in DYNAM Addition II. The direction of the earthquake vibrations is freely selectable for all standards but can also be applied automatically in the eigenmode's governing direction. In the same way, the ordinate value of the design spectrum can be freely selected or automatically determined by the program. The design spectrum can be displayed also graphically showing the ordinate's location. The components in direction X, Y and Z can either be set automatically according to the standard or manually adjusted by means of factors.
For the design according to DIN 4149 and Eurocode 8, you can select between the design spectrum for linear calculation and the elastic response spectrum. In case the American design method IBC 2000 is used, the procedures according to section 1617 "Equivalent Lateral Force Procedure" or section 1618 "Modal Analysis Procedure" are available.

Results

Separated by eigenmodes, the equivalent lateral loads determined by DYNAM Addition II are respectively transferred in a new RSTAB load case. Subsequently, they can be superimposed in load combinations. Furthermore, it is possible to decide already in the module whether you want to use a linear or a square addition.
