VisLab, a start-up at the University of Parma, is a global leader in autonomous driving system development for various vehicle types. The American company Ambarella became aware of VisLab’s mission in a rapidly developing area characterized by strong competition, and decided to strategically acquire the company. As a result, a new location for headquarters to accommodate this research was required. Ambarella preferred the research center to remain on the University of Parma campus in Italy.
In 2018, Alì Supermercati decided to extend its existing regional commercial network with a new shopping mall located in Via Noalese, Treviso, Italy. The project, designed by Studio Signorotto Architettura of Treviso, includes a glued-laminated timber roof, which integrates with the area’s existing wood structures, characterized by a perfect aesthetic design and quality building material.

Cavezzo was one of the towns in the region of Emilia-Romagna damaged by the 2012 earthquake. As a result of this event, many public and private structures were heavily damaged and became uninhabitable. The municipal gym incurred such serious damage that it was necessary to completely demolish the existing reinforced concrete structure. However, the foundation was partially left on site.
The railroad station forecourt at Piazza Garibaldi is fifteen acres in size and includes parks, gardens, and fountains. Between 2005 and 2013, it was renovated along with the metro station of the same name.
In the Italian town of Brescia, the company Rubner Objektbau GmbH, functioning as the general contractor, has built an apartment complex with appealing architecture consisting of timber. Four housing complexes with a total of 72 housing units were constructed in a minimal amount of time. For the Lombard Institute for Residential Buildings (ALER), this was the first project carried out in wood.
An extraordinary project was born when the architectural office of bergmeister-wolf designed a new workshop for wood carving art in Val Gardena, South Tyrol.
As the triangulated facade could be used only partially for load application, the building represented a great challenge for the responsible timber construction engineer. But the Italian Dlubal Software customer Schrentewein & Partner mastered the task by primarily using the building's inside parts for transferring loads.
The structure of the steel hall for a swimming pool at Therme Meran spa consists of rigid rectangular hollow section columns bearing a roof structure rigid in two directions. The model was calculated according to the second-order analysis, considering inclination and precamber.
