Application of Nonlinear Material Laws 

Use this advanced RFEM setting to take into account nonlinear material behavior.
The following material models are available with RF-MAT NL:

Isotropic plastic 1D/2D/3D and isotropic nonlinear elastic 2D/3D

You can choose among three different definition types:
  • Basic (definition of an equivalent stress for which the material plastifies)
  • Bilinear (definition of an equivalent stress and a strain hardening modulus)
  • Diagram:
    • Definition of polygonal stress-strain relation
    • Option for saving / importing
    • Interface with MS Excel

Orthotropic plastic 3D (Tsai-Wu 3D)

With this material model it is possible to define characteristics (modulus of elasticity, shear modulus, Poisson's ratio) and ultimate strengths of materials (tension, compression, shear) in two or three axes.

Isotropic thermal-elastic

You can define the material properties (modulus of elasticity, shear modulus, Poisson's ratio, expansion coefficient of temperature) depending on the temperature.

Isotropic masonry 2D

It is possible to specify the limit tension stresses σx,limit and σy,limit as well as a hardening factor CH.
