Description ... The Modern Gallery in Saarbrücken, Germany, should be completed by a further exhibition hall. A special challenge of the design is represented by an area of water put on the hall roof, resulting in very high additional loads. However, the huge hall that has a size of 40 x 40 m should be roofed without columns. The design includes a suggestion for a composite floor slab with trapezoidal web beams...

Description ... To the equipment of a wind power station belongs a wind measurement tower which is 90 m high and anchored by cables. It is supposed to have a lifetime of approx. 2 to 4 years. Due to the temporary use, the tower must be erected with scaffold poles and guys, admitted for use by the supervising authority, in distances of 8 m. In addition to the self-weight, it is especially important to take into account the wind load as governing action. The foundation can be designed as flat footing as well as deep foundation...

Number of pages 208
Table of contents
Description ... My objective is the presentation of approaches which can be taken into account by the design with regard to construction as well as to structural analysis for the planning of a timber road bridge that is in its structure similar to the one built in Neukirchen vorm Wald, Germany.I want to describe, for example, how the high wheel loads from heavy load can be passed into a two-dimensional structural timber component and which materials are appropriate and generally qualified for timber bridge constructions...

26. Graduation Thesis Stefan Klein-Ridder

Subject Design and construction of double curved, mechanically or pneumatically pre-stressed membrane constructions
Author Stefan Klein-Ridder
Address Lochnerstraße 51
52064 Aachen
Institute Fachhochschule Aachen
Fachbereich Bauingenieurwesen
Advisor Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ulrich Vismann
Dipl.-Ing. Karsten Mohr
Date 12/11/2007
Programs and modules used RSTAB, Zusatzmodule
Number of pages 150
Table of contents
Description ... Membrane constructions are double curved shell structures which can only be stressed by tensile forces and stabilized by mechanical or pneumatical prestress. Like cable meshes, membrane structures are kinematical in their structures, which results on the one hand in an almost unlimited variety of shapes, on the other hand significant difficulties may occur and some special conditions must be taken into account for the calculation of such constructions.
This thesis describes the problems of the design and construction and presents the possibilities for the structure analysis. The target is the calculation of the pneumatically pre-stressed roof consisting of ETFE cushions which is installed above the inner courtyard of the Rheinpark-Metropole park in Cologne, Germany, which is built at the same time when the thesis is written...
Others ... I would like to thank you that I was allowed to use your software products for my thesis. I could take advantage of RSTAB for the calculation of a beam trussed with sag rods...

27. Masters Thesis Fabian Jurek Braun

Subject Stability analysis of an imperfection sensitive framework shell
Dome collapse of an exhibition building in Bucharest, Romania
Author Fabian Jurek Braun
Address Poststraße 32
74592 Kirchberg
Institute Hochschule Karlsruhe
Technik und Wirtschaft
Advisor Prof. Dr. Eur.-Ing. Marcus Aberle
Date 08/15/2007
Programs and modules used RSTAB, Zusatzmodule
Number of pages 80
Table of contents
Description ... The present thesis represents a stability analysis of a framework shell prone to imperfections. The dome-shaped framework shell that was built in Bucharest in 1961 tumbled down 17 months later due to a minor snow load. The analysis is based on technical reports written at that time.
The central question is whether the collapse of the dome could have been predicted with the current state of knowledge and computer-assisted programs.
First the shell is analyzed for its stability failure by using a continuum method. In the next step, the dome is calculated discretely (FEA) with a framework program. Then the results are compared with the technical reports. Finally further suggestions are made concerning the optimization of the model...

28. Graduation Thesis Markus Stummer

Subject Determining the remaining life of riveted railway bridges
Author Markus Stummer
Address Idlhofgasse 6
8020 Graz
Institute TU Graz
Institut für Stahlbau und Flächentragwerke
Advisor O.Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. Richard Greiner
Dipl.-Ing. Andreas Taras
Date 11/20/2007
Programs and modules used RSTAB, RFEM, Zusatzmodule
Number of pages 266
Table of contents
Description ... Objective of the present thesis was to apply the guideline ONR 24008 in combination with the calculation scheme and the collective factor alpha of the guideline 805 from the German railway company Deutsche Bahn. Further, it is compared to the results of the guidelines 805 from the Deutsche Bahn company and the ones of the Swiss railways. Three railway bridges, taken from the Austrian ÖBB route network, having the rough span lengths 43 [m], 21 [m] und 4 [m] were analyzed by using these three guidelines.
Moreover, a fatigue design for a bridge in Wien was performed and evaluated following the hypothesis of the linear cumulative damage according to Palmgren, Miner and Langer...
Others ...the use of your program RSTAB is not the focus of my thesis because it is about the remaining life of railway bridges and different analysis models are presented. However, it was a great support to me when I evaluated the bridges by structural and stress analysis.. I would like to congratulate you on this excellent analysis software...

29. Graduation Thesis Dirk Engler

Subject Analysis of soil-structure interaction for the plate-pile foundation of a social building in the flood plain of the river Elbe

Description The challenge of the thesis was the analysis as well as the evaluation of different types of foundation, by using the direct example of an already completed social building which is located in the Elbe flood plain. In the following, these types are analyzed:
- type 1: slab foundation - reinforced concrete slab with surface elastic foundation
- type 2a: bored pile foundation - reinforced concrete slab with downstand beam system
- type 2b: bored pile foundation - reinforced concrete slab supported by columns
- type 3: combined pile-slab foundation

30. Graduation Thesis Daniel Puttkammer

Subject Structural analysis for the reconstruction of the Nonnenhaus building in Tübingen, Germany

Table of contents
Description This thesis includes a structural analysis for the Nonnenhaus building, a historic building in Tübingen. Important issues of the analysis are:
- determination of loads and actions applied to the building
- determination of loadings in case of earthquakes
- transfer of equivalent seismic loads along the stiffening roof panel
- creation of a structural system for the roof
- calculated designs for the stability at crucial points of the roof
Others ...the program RSTAB you have given me was of great help for me when I performed my structural analyses...

NOTE

Worldwide universities and institutions of higher education are using Dlubal software in their engineering courses.
