Design of Multi-layer Surfaces with Dlubal Software

Take advantage of RF-LAMINATE, add-on module of the FEA program RFEM, to carry out the stress and the deflection analysis for multi-layer surfaces. The calculation taking into account shear coupling follows the laminate theory. Based on the user-defined layer structure the module determines the total stiffness of the surface and performs the corresponding designs. RF-LAMINATE is particularly used for designing cross-laminated timber elements. However, you can also use it to calculate layer elements in reinforced concrete or element construction as well as structures consisting of fibre-reinforced plastic.

News in RSTAB and RFEM Presented on Dlubal Info Day in Berlin

The Info Days organized by the Dlubal company are always a good opportunity for customers and engineers interested in Dlubal software to get first hand information about the latest news and features implemented in the main programs RSTAB and RFEM as well as the add-on modules. One of these famous events, which are free for participants, took place on the 8th of June in Berlin.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi – the World's Largest Indoor Theme Park

Truss structure for roof calculated with RSTAB
In November 2010, the theme park "Ferrari World Abu Dhabi" was opened in the United Arab Emirates. According to the organizers, it is the largest indoor theme park world-wide. It is situated on Yas Island, not far from the Yas Marina Circuit. One of its greatest attractions is "Formula Rossa", a launched roller coaster. It has an acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 2 seconds and with a top speed of 240 km/h it is the fastest roller coaster on the planet.

Direct Data Exchange between Dlubal Programs and Tekla Structures

Both Dlubal programs RSTAB and RFEM are able to support the BIM process (Building Information Modeling) which allows for a continuous planning in civil engineering. The programs for CAD and structural analysis are using the same analysis models because the transfer is carried out directly. Dlubal programs provide a direct interface with Tekla Structures which can now also be used on 64-bit operating systems. Due to this interface connection, it is possible to design structures with more efficiency and safety.

Design of Floor Slabs and Waterproof Concrete in RFEM

Use Dlubal's FEA program RFEM 4 to model and design easily planar and spatial structures. Take advantage of RFEM to calculate for example individual base components such as floor slabs, complete floors or entire buildings.

Science Park in Linz/Austria - Calculated with RFEM

The science park completes the Austrian Johannes Kepler university by five further buildings. In April 2005, an urban development competition was announced. Architects from Caramel in Vienna tendered and won the contest. Engineers from Werkraum Wien using Dlubal software were in charge of performing the structural analysis for all five building elements.

b.i.m.m GmbH Is Offering Software Tools for Download

The process of Building Information Modeling (BIM) for which the three-dimensional structural model is running through all kinds of planning steps is quickly finding its way into the building industry. The b.i.m.m GmbH, an Austrian company for building information model management, is now offering software tools enabling architects, structural engineers and company technicians to work efficiently together on the same 3D model. The basic software is represented, among others, by RFEM and Revit Structure, a program for which the Dlubal company provides a direct interface. Anton Gasteiger is one of the founders of the b.i.m.m company. As Managing Director of the Austrian AGA-BAU company he is working with Dlubal software and Autodesk programs for many years, successfully integrating the BIM method.

Tree Tower in the Bavarian Forest - Calculated with Dlubal Software

The path leading through forest tree-tops has a total length of 1,300 m and is the longest tree-top walk worldwide. It was built in 2009 in the Bavarian Forest National Park in Germany. The walk's principal magnet of tourism is the walkable tree tower with a height of 44 m. It consists of a spiral construction with a length of 520 m, directly connected to the tree-top walk which is 780 m long.

Great Interest in Dlubal Software at the BAU event 2011 in Munich

Dlubal was participating in the trade fair BAU 2011 in Munich, Germany (17th - 22th January 2011), presenting new developments in the main programs RSTAB, RFEM and RX-TIMBER. Customer interest in the presented Dlubal products was overwhelming. Many people interested in Dlubal software could see for themselves how efficiently the programs work and became new customers of the Dlubal company.

Dynamic Analysis of Structural Systems with Dlubal Software

When a structure is stressed by dynamic actions such as impact forces, braking forces, machine vibrations, equivalent seismic loads etc., a structural analysis is not sufficient. The system must be designed also for dynamic loads. Take advantage of the add-on module DYNAM to perform a dynamic analysis in combination with RSTAB or RFEM, Dlubal's 3D programs for frameworks and finite element method.
