RF-GLASS 4.xx |

Design of Glass Panes and Surfaces |

| Input The pane's geometry is defined in RFEM. All glass-specific data, however, is defined in the input tables of RF-GLASS. Easy input tools help you to enter the specifications. Loads already existing can be imported from RFEM. Climatic loads that may be required are created by entering the relevant parameters in the module. Furthermore, you can define the pane structure in the module. You can select between the following three elements: glass, foil, and gas. The library provides different materials for the selection. The material parameters and thickness can be edited. For the entered line and nodal supports, it is possible to take into account support rotations or to define degrees of freedom. |

| Design When you design tempered safety glass or panes consisting of laminated glass without enclosing a gas layer, RF-GLASS assigns an equivalent stiffness to the selected surface(s). This stiffness is determined by the glazing's geometric structure. The calculation is carried out according to the sandwich theory. The panes are modeled by using surface elements. Optionally, you can take into account the foil's shear stiffness for the calculation. When designing insulating glass, RF-GLASS creates again surface elements to model the glass panes. The gas layer is represented by special solid elements to consider the gas law. |

| Results Subsequent to the calculation, RF-GLASS displays the results for deformations and stresses in output tables. In this way, you can easily find the maximum stress ratio. The stress diagram in the glass packet is shown directly in the graphic of result tables. The results can also be represented graphically in the RFEM work window. Finally, it is possible to integrate the graphics into the printout report to ensure a clear documentation. |
