RF-MOVE 4.xx

Load Case Generation from Moving Loads for Members and Sets of Members

The RFEM add-on module RF-MOVE creates load cases from various positions of moving loads such as cranes or cars on bridges. When generating those loads, it is possible to create also an enveloping load combination.

The data is entered only in two input tables. In this way, and due to the quick load case generation for RFEM, you can save a lot of time.
Features

  • Generation of up to 9,999 load cases from the moving load’s positions
  • Parameterized load positions for different concentrated and distributed loads
  • Summarizing several moving loads in one generation case
  • Option to add loads to RFEM load cases already available
  • Generation of load combination to determine the most unfavorable load position
  • Option to save load specifications to use them in other structures
Input

The continuous members on which the load is moving are selected graphically in the RFEM model. It is not a problem to apply several different types of loads to one set of members at the same time.

By specifying the first load position, RF-MOVE can represent a load's moving start on a set of members with precise accuracy. In the same way, it is possible to define whether a moving load consisting of various load applications is allowed to move beyond the end of the continuous members (bridge) or not (crane runway).

The increment of the single load positions is determined by the number of load cases that will be generated for RFEM. Additionally, you can add loads to load cases already existing in RFEM so that no additional superposition is required.

RF-MOVE provides several load types such as single, linear and trapezoidal loads as well as load pairs and several uniform concentrated loads. They can be applied in local and in global directions. The load application can refer to the true length on member or to the projection in a global direction.

Generation

By a single mouse click, you can create a variety of load cases. When the generation has been completed, RF-MOVE shows the numbers of the created load cases and combinations for information.

Results

The add-on module RF-MOVE does not display any results tables: You can check the created load cases including their loads in RFEM.

The descriptions of the individual moving loads are deduced from the respective load increment number. It is possible, however, to replace those names in RFEM by other load case descriptions.

Finally, the entire table input can be exported to MS Excel or OpenOffice.org Calc.
