RF-TENDON 5.xx

Tendon Definition in Pre-Stressed Concrete Members

RF-TENDON is used to define the tendon layout within concrete members and to determine equivalent prestressing forces. The add-on module represents the basis for prestressed concrete design with pre-tensioned and bonded post-tensioned concrete according to EN 1992-1-1 and EN 1992-2 in the add-on module RF-TENDON Design.

Features

  • Import of cross-sections, materials and loads from RFEM
  • Input of straight and parabolic tendons, layout definition for prestressing steel
  • Automatic calculation of prestressing forces and equivalent member loads
  • Transfer of equivalent loads to RFEM
  • Short-term losses resulting from friction, anchorage set, relaxation, elastic deformation of concrete etc. are taken into account
  • Output of tendon strains before and after anchorage
  • Calculation of minimum and maximum stresses in tendons
  • Output of internal forces in defined sections
  • Optional calculation of RF-TENDON Design in background
  • Clear representation of tendon layout in 3D rendering
  • Printout or RTF export of results is possible
  • Setting options for displayed parameters and units (metric or imperial, decimal places etc.)

Input

After defining the structure, load cases (load case for prestress without loading) and load groups in RFEM, you define the tendons in
RF-TENDON.
The database offers you a variety of prestressing steels for selection which can be modified, if necessary. In the dialog boxes you can specify particular data, for example the number of used strands, the side where the steel is prestressed and the slippage size.
You can define straight and parabolic tendons automatically as well as manually in vertical or horizontal plane. The load cases and groups are assigned to time structural stages. Furthermore, you define the position of design locations in RF-TENDON.

Calculation

The calculation of equivalent loads due to prestress is performed automatically in RF-TENDON.
The equivalent loads are transferred to RFEM where they are applied to the structure as concentrated loads. RFEM determines the internal forces which will then be returned to RF-TENDON.
In RF-TENDON all data can be completely calculated with RF-TENDON Design in the background, for example when tendon properties or geometries are modified subsequently in RF-TENDON.

Results

The results for the calculated equivalent prestressing forces and short-term losses are displayed in clearly-arranged results tables and graphics. In addition, internal forces are shown in defined locations or sections.
Depending on your selection, the printout report includes construction stages, tendon geometry, equivalent loads, losses etc. Moreover, you can add results graphics to the printout report for a better understanding. Finally, you can print the report or export it in an RTF file.
