RFEM 4 - Design according to Eurocodes |
Updated Eurocodes for Steel and Reinforced Concrete
A new version - RFEM 4 - has been launched and for the first time the program offers you all design options for reinforced concrete and steel in full compliance with the newest Eurocodes.
Features in the add-on module RF-CONCRETE for reinforced concrete design have been extended significantly. In addition to the ultimate limit state design, it is now possible to analyze crack widths according to different analytical procedures. You can define comfortably an existing reinforcement using a library for wire fabrics or rebars. RF-CONCRETE includes all procedures prescribed in DIN 1045-1, edition 08.2008, and in EN 1992, such as limitation of concrete compressive stresses and steel stresses, the calculation of the minimum reinforcement for the limitation of crack widths, the limitation of rebar diameters and spacings and also the direct crack width calculation.
Non-Linear Analysis in Cracked StateIn addition to the simplified analytical procedures, you can now use the option for the non-linear analysis of reinforced concrete surfaces in the add-on module RF-CONCRETE NL. During a complex iteration process, the stiffness is varied for every finite element in relation to the crack formation and the inserted reinforcement until a state of equilibrium is reached. This approach also considers the redistribution of internal forces that may occur. Another calculation result important for engineers is the analysis of realistic deflections in surfaces for the cracked state.
Cost-Effective and Efficient Analysis for Steel Constructions according to EN 1993 For steel constructions, the add-on module STEEL EC3 covers the ultimate and the serviceability limit state design and also the stability analysis for buckling and lateral torsional buckling for cross-sections included in the Eurocode. The latest version even provides the stainless steel design. The program automatically checks alternative design formulas of EN 1993 with regard to best efficiency. It is very important to correctly determine the critical moment for lateral torsional buckling for the stability analysis because it affects the safety and efficiency considerably. STEEL EC3 uses an internal FE program that is able to calculate exact critical buckling moments with consideration of even non-standard support conditions including intermediate lateral restraints. The interaction coefficients required for the analysis are also calculated completely automatically depending on the distribution of internal forces on the member.
