RX-TIMBER Continuous Beam 1.xx

Calculation and Design of Continuous Beams According to EN 1995-1-1:2004-11 (EC5) or DIN 1052:2008-12

The stand-alone module RX-TIMBER Continuous Beam designs girders according to DIN 1052:2008 and EN 1995-1-1:2004 (EC5). At this, the ultimate and serviceability limit state design is carried out as well as the fire protection design.
Program Features

  • Design of the following geometric models:
    • Single-span girder with and without cantilevers
    • Continuous girder with and without cantilevers
    • Hinged girder system (Gerber) with and without cantilevers
  • For EN 1995, the following national annexes are currently available:
    • DIN EN 1995-1-1/NA:2009-04
    • ÖNORM B 1995-1-1:2009-07-01
    • CSN EN 1995-1-1:2009
    • EN 1995-1-1 DK NA:2007
    • SFS EN 1995-1-1:2004
    • UNI EN 1995-1-1:2007-11
    • NA to BS EN 1995-1-1:2006
  • Automatic generation of wind and snow loads
  • Many optional reductions according to the selected standard
  • Simple geometric input with supportive graphics
  • Free input of tapered geometries. Due to the free selection of the grain angle, the design of the compressive and tensile areas for bending can be specified by the user.
  • Comprehensive material library that can be supplemented by the user
  • Determination of the design criteria, support forces and deformations
  • Colored relation scales in the result tables
  • Direct data export to MS Excel or OpenOffice.org Calc
  • DXF interface to create production records in CAD
  • German, English or Czech program interface
  • Verifiable printout report with all required proofs
  • Direct data import of volumes from various CAD programs
Input

There are many varieties available how to model the girder. The input of the geometry is supported by graphic illustrations. All changes are updated automatically.
For the SLS design, the limit deflection of the cantilevers can be set independently of the deflection in the span.
To define the permanent loads (e.g. roof build up) a highly comprehensive, expandable material library can be used. The integrated generators are very convenient to create the various wind and snow load cases.
The load cases can be checked graphically. They are automatically combined in load combinations according to DIN or EC5. Thus, the input is reduced to a mininum. It also possible to define loads manually, however.

Design

In the module Continuous Beam the following specifications can be set for the calculation:

  • Design of ULS, SLS and/or fire protection
  • Selection of design types to be carried out
  • Decision whether support forces and deformations are to be determined
  • Modification of the recommended limit values for SLS design
  • Determination of the parameters for fire protection design according to simplied method
  • Decision whether vibration design is to be carried out

Results

After the successful design, the verfications are shown with all required intermediate results in clearly structured tables. The results are arranged according to different criteria. As the intermediate values are also listed in detail, all types of verifactions become transparent.
The result diagrams of any x-location of the girder can be evaluated in a separate window. It is possible to display both the deformations and the single internal forces.
All types of verifications with the design details and selected result diagrams are included in a printout report so that the documenation is understandable and descriptive. It can be supplemented by images, comments, scan of sketches etc. The user can also define individually which data of the design are to be shown in the printout report.
