In June 2018, a new and unique lookout tower by the world-famous architect Martin Rajniš was opened in the Prague municipal district Kyje. When designing the tower, maximum emphasis was placed on natural and renewable material use.
The lookout tower structure is constructed with 3.15 in diameter acacia logs. The main supporting structure includes three legs where a spiral staircase is also suspended. The tower legs are made of a lattice structure in the shape of an elongated barrel. At the top, the legs are interconnected with three steel hoops and a triangular steel structure.
The tower is 77.1 ft high with the observation platform located 65.5 feet above the ground elevation. The observation tower can hold up to 9 people during typical operations.
|Connection Design in RFEM||

For a project in Rotterdam, ADS Ertner used IDEA CONNECTION to analyze a structural steel connection. This program calculates steel connections utilizing the CBFEM method where each thin-walled cross-section is modeled with nonlinear material properties, nonlinear bolts, and nonlinear welds. In order to transfer loads, ADS Ertner needed to use blocks in the connection model. In IDEA CONNECTION, blocks are not easily integrated with thin-walled plates.

This single story 11,840 ft2 nursery school accommodates up to 70 children. The building property is also surrounded by playgrounds and other green spaces.

In 2017, VIC OBDAM was commissioned by BAM to fully design the Kasbank project (total weight about 334 t) in Amsterdam. This project included a free-standing steel spiral staircase.

The architectural highlight of the Halle (Saale) bus station include the stylish canopies over the bus platforms. The continuous lights integrated at the roof edges are the real eye-catcher especially at night.
Indermühle Bauingenieure, Thun, Switzerland
The school building addition in Sutz-Lattrigen was built on the existing foundation floor. This foundation was not designed to withstand a second story. Therefore, the loads from the first floor and the additional second story had to be designed as concentrated loads. In order to reduce weight but also for educational and sustainability reasons, timber was used in the construction of the new building.

The pedestrian bridge over the Taffa river functions not only as a bridge, but also includes a garden tool shed and seating along the platform. Additionally, the delicate top truss chords provide pedestrian railing along the bridge length.

An impressive roof structure was constructed over the Passion Play open-air theater in Sömmersdorf, Franconia (Germany). The self-supporting spatial steel structure includes a PVC membrane roof covering the 14,908 ft2 auditorium. Only four foundations in total support the entire roof structure.
