The following thesis deals with the theory of partial interaction, which has numerous application options, especially in the area of timber and cross-material composite structures, but also in other areas, such as strengthening the existing structures. In addition to an introduction to the mechanical and theoretical background of this type of composite, the relevance of such an accurate structural calculation is conveyed by practice-oriented examples.

Several exemplary scenarios are shown, for which the conventional design according to the theory of rigid composite is no longer applicable. In order to be able to carry out the design of such systems, several methods are presented in the course of this thesis, five of which are described in detail. Among others, these include the gamma method according to DIN 1052, the shear analogy method accroding to Kreuzinger, and the framework method according to Rautenstrauch.

The focus of these individual methods' elaborations was placed on the calculation of flexural beams using computer-aided methods. It provides the necessary knowledge that is required for modeling within any structural frame analysis program. By evaluating the practical suitability of the methods on the basis of the modeling and calculation effort as well as the respective application limits, a systematic overview of the advantages and disadvantages of the individual calculation methods is provided. This makes it easier for practicing engineers to determine a suitable method for an individual problem or project.

An Excel spreadsheet developed within the scope of this thesis also provides the possibility of pre-dimensioning the individual components of a composite beam as well as the design according to the theory of the gamma method given by DIN 1052. Furthermore, it supports the user in determining the input parameters of the other methods required for modeling within the structural analysis software.

The final comparison confronts the result deviations of the individual methods on the basis of a timber-concrete composite (TCC) slab. This clarifies the question of whether the additional effort of certain methods is worthwhile due to a possibly lower calculated load-bearing capacity in the ultimate limit state and the serviceability limit state.
