FEM Analysis and Design of Structures

The RFEM program is the basis of a modular software system. The main program RFEM is used to define structures, materials, and loads for planar and spatial structural systems consisting of plates, walls, shells and members. The program also allows you to create combined structures as well as model solid and contact elements.

Analysis and Design of Beam Structures

The structural frame analysis and design program RSTAB contains a similar range of functions as RFEM. Due to the special attention to beam or frame structures, it is very easy to use.

Form-Finding and Design of Cable and Membrane Structures

The RF‑CUTTING‑PATTERN add‑on module generates and organizes cutting patterns for membrane structures.

  1. Local Buckling of Members per the ADM 2015

    Local Buckling of Members per the ADM 2015

    If an aluminum member section is comprised of slender elements, failure can occur due to the local buckling of the flanges or webs before the member can reach full strength. In the RF‑/ALUMINUM ADM add‑on module, there are now three options for determining the nominal flexural strength for the limit state of local buckling, Mnlb, from section F.3 in the 2015 Aluminum Design Manual. The three options include sections F.3.1 Weighted Average Method, F.3.2 Direct Strength Method, and F.3.3 Limiting Element Method.

    Form-Finding in RFEM

    The RF-FORM-FINDING add‑on module determines equilibrium shapes of membrane and cable elements in RFEM. In this calculation process, the program searches for such a geometric position in which the surface stress/prestress of membranes and cables is in equilibrium with natural and geometric boundary conditions. This process is called form‑finding (hereinafter referred to as FF).
