Glossary Term

Members can be combined in a set of members. In a continuous member, members are continuously connected to a node as in the case of a continuous beam.

Sets of members are combined members. Thus, several members can be treated like one member which might be desired at some locations in a structure (for example, for the lateral-torsional buckling analysis, the design of continuous beams, load application).

Types of Sets of Members in RFEM and RSTAB
  • A "continuous member" is created by means of connected members which are not branching.
  • A "group of members" consists of connected members which are probably branching.
