Set of Members

Glossary Term

Members can be combined to a set of members. In a continuous member, members are continuously connected to a node as in the case of a continuous beam.

Sets of members are combined members. Thus, several members can be treated like one member which might be desired at some locations in the structure (for example for the lateral-torsional buckling analysis, the design of continuous beams, lod application).

Types of Sets of Members in RFEM and RSTAB

  • A "continuous member" is created by means of connected members which are not branching.
  • A "group of members" consists of connected members which are probably branching.
