In the "Effective Lengths" tab of the "Edit Member" dialog box, there is the check box "Check exceeding of critical buckling load." If I select it, what is the effect on the calculation in RSTAB or RFEM?
The effective length factors that you can change in the "Effective Lengths" tab are not considered in the determination of internal forces in RSTAB and RFEM.
These values are presettings for add-on modules used for performing stability analyses, for example STEEL EC3 or TIMBER Pro. The values will be considered in the modules.
The check box "Check exceeding of critical buckling load" has an influence if the critical load is reached. If this happens, this member fails and the program shows an instability message.
