How can I display the local axis systems in RFEM and reverse the local axis z?
Each surface in RFEM has a local coordinate system (x,y,z).
The x- and y-coordinates lie in the surface, z stands perpendicularly on the surface. The top and bottom side of a surface is determined by the direction of the z-axis.
The direction in which the local z-axis is showing is the bottom side of a surface. Normally, the local z-axis points downward. Depending on the definition direction of the boundary lines and the order by which the lines have been clicked, it may be possible, however, that the local z-axis points upward.
But this can be corrected very easily. Please set the display of the local surface coordinate systems first.
Follow the instructions below:
Set the Display navigator on the left side of the screen.
Select "Model" -> "Surfaces" and tick the check box of the entry "Surface Axis Systems x,y,z".
To reverse the direction of the local z-axis, right-click the relevant surface now to open the surface context menu where you select the entry "Reverse Local Axis System".
A rotation of the local axes x and y is not possible. The direction of these axes depends directly on the global axis and the position of the surface towards it. For example, if you define a surface in the x,y-plane, the local axis x runs in the direction of the global axis X. Now, if you tilt this plate out of the plane, the local coordinate system rotates automatically.
