In RFEM, the Poisson's ratios of glued-laminated timber are incorrect for isotropic linear-elastic calculation: there are the values from 7 to 9.


For the calculation of members, this Poisson's ratio is irrelevant as it is only used for surfaces and solids.

For an isotropic material model, the Poisson's ratio is fixedly coupled with the modulus of elasticity and the shear modulus. If the Poisson's ratio will be too large and out of the limits, there is no isotropic material behavior anymore. To avoid the problem, it is recommended to create an orthotropic material for surfaces and solids. For members, it is still necessary to select the isotropic material model. In this case, you can ignore the message.
