The option to increase the material factor ε is grayed out in Details - Ultimate Limit State, why?

Answer

According to EN 1993-1-1, it is only possible to increase the material factor based on the applied stresses if stability analyses are not performed with the equivalent member design. Since equivalent member designs are activated in the next tab "Stability" by default, this check box is grayed out.

After deactivating the equivalent member design, this checkbox is enabled and activated by default.
