How can I tie a surface to members in a hinged manner?

Answer

There are many ways to tie a surface to members in a hinged manner. On the one hand, it is possible to define the surface in a frame system or similar with an eccentricity and a coupling (Figure 1). This rigid member is then connected by hinges. This technical article explains this in even greater detail.

As a workable approximation, it may be sufficient to connect all hinged members (Figure 2).
There are other possibilities which refer e.g. to the option of nodal release. This option is described in detail in this technical article.
