How do I determine the stiffness center of my structural system?

Answer

The RFEM program allows you to determine the center of gravity of a structural system. This is explained in this FAQ .

However, the center of gravity does not have to be necessarily confused with the stiffness center. This can be determined according to the theory of stiffening systems by using the SHAPE‑THIN program. The following webinar will also explain the practical application of the stiffness center in seismic design.

To determine the center, there is the third and final option that allows you to consider the stiffness with a stiffness model in RFEM. This will be explained soon in the technical articles of this series.
