Which programs can I use to calculate and design power plants?

Answer

Both RFEM and RSTAB are suitable for processing power plants. Due to the capabilities of a finite element analysis, RFEM provides more extensive options because it is also possible to model and design planar components without any problems.

Depending on the requirements, you can use the add-on modules from various industries, such as reinforced concrete structures or steel structures.

Main Programs RFEM or RSTAB

The main programs RFEM or RSTAB are used to define structures, materials, and actions.

Available Standards

There are numerous Eurocodes with National Annexes available for various materials. Also for other countries, there are many standards available, which can be extended according to your requirements.

Add-on Modules

The add-on modules are available for the respective industries. In addition to the general stress analysis with RF‑/STEEL for steel structures, there is also the design module for RF‑/STEEL EC3. For example, this can be supplemented and extended with the add-on modules RF‑/STEEL - Warping Torsion or RF‑/STEEL - Plasticity. You can use the links at the end of this text to access the various add-on modules.

Wind Simulation and Wind Load Generation

With the RWIND - Simulation stand-alone program, you can analyze your model in the digital wind tunnel. It is also possible to include the relevant terrain of the environment or the existing or other planned structures in your analyses. You can import the wind loads obtained in the process to RFEM.

Dynamic Analyses

If it is necessary to perform seismic analysis or vibration designs, the RF‑/DYNAM Pro add-on modules provide special tools for determining natural frequencies and mode shapes, an analysis of forced vibrations, a generation of equivalent loads, or for a nonlinear time history analysis.

Interfaces/BIM

  • Building Information Modeling (BIM)
    An extensive collection of interfaces allows for data exchange with other programs. Most of the interfaces are already integrated in RFEM or RSTAB.
