#### Further Information

In addition to our technical support (e.g. via chat), you’ll find resources on our website that may help you with your design using Dlubal Software.

• ### The "Edge Girder" function is available in the RX-TIMBER module. What exactly does this option do?

With this option, you determine whether a boundary member is designed in the design or an interior support that is arranged between the individual panels. The load approach differs as follows:

Inner beam:
${\mathrm q}_{\mathrm k}\;=\;{\mathrm q}_{\mathrm k'}\;\cdot\;\mathrm a\;\cdot\;\mathrm k$

Edge beam:
${\mathrm q}_{\mathrm k}\;=\;{\mathrm q}_{\mathrm k'}\;\cdot\;\left(\frac{\mathrm a}2\;+\;\mathrm ü\right)\;\cdot\;\mathrm k$

a = beam or rafter spacing
ü = roof overhang at the gable
k = load factor for continuous effect
p k ' = surface load in kN / m²

The Feed Surface to Define is shown in Figure 02.

• ### The dimensioning in the graph is, depending on the system, in the expression of RX-TIMBER is very confusing. Can you optimize this?

By default, the graphic is printed at only 40% of the page height in the log. In some cases, it makes sense to display the graphic over the entire page height and to rotate the graphic by 90 ° (see Fig. 02). Normally, it should be sufficient to display the dimensions with two decimal places in order to save space. This setting can be specified in the "Units and Decimal Places" menu (see Fig. 03). Lastly, the help lines can be shortened and the font size reduced (see Fig. 04). A font size of 5 should be sufficient for an A4 printout. To choose such a small font size, the font "Small Fonts" should be used. The finished result is shown in picture 05.
• ### How long will it take to be able to handle your programs?

That can not be answered flat rate, since experience shows that each user has a different pace of learning.

Experience has shown that the familiarization with our programs is very fast due to the simple and intuitive usability.

Also the webinars and videos that you can view on our homepage free of charge facilitate the quick entry into our software.

• ### How can I read the authorization file (AUTHOR.INI) in an RX-TIMBER module?

Reading in is done directly in one of the additional modules and not via the project manager. Please start one of the licensed modules and select in the menu item "Help" the option "Read authorization file ..." (see picture 01). Enter the path where you copied the authorization file and complete the process.

In addition, if there is a problem with licensing, please send us the diagnostic file for authorization. These can be created in the menu item "Help → System diagnostics" (see Fig. 02).
• ### Where is the damage consequence class defined in RX wood?

The damage sequence class can be set in the RF Combi module. In the coefficients the desired setting can be made (see picture).
• ### Where can I download a valid version if I do not have a service contract?

If you do not have a service contract, you will find the valid version in your account on our homepage.
• ### I just have to calculate an open hall with low roof loads and relatively high wind loads. For this one would theoretically have to prove the lower flange to buckling / tilting. Unfortunately, the combination is missing 1.0 * G +1.5 * W.

Additional combinations of favorable permanent effects can be taken into account in RSTAB / RFEM using the mask Combination rules (see Fig. 1) and in RX-TIMBER via Form 1.4 (see Fig. 2).
• ### Is it possible to "borrow" licences from the server?

No, our current licensing system has no lending function – regardless of the physical (hardlock, USB dongle) or digital (softlock) software protection variant.

In contrast to the physical variant, the digital software protection technology also provides a "rehost" function in order to transfer the digital software protection system from one computer to another. However, this transfer does not mean it is possible to transfer a single license for a particular program of our product range, but the entire licensing that is controlled by the respective softlock. Thus, you can only transfer the digital software protection to another computer by plugging the physical software protection key to another computer.

• ### When importing the authorization file, I get the error saying that the authorization file cannot be copied to the destination folder. What should I do?

A user must have the read and write permissions for the destination folder. This folder is specified in the error message (see Figure 01).

Please set the required permissions to this folder. To do this, select the folder and open its properties. In the "Security" tab, you can then, for example, set full access for the "Users" group or for the selected users (see Figure 02).

Now, it should be possible to import the license file. The required user rights can also be found in the User Rights document that is available under Downloads below.

As an alternative, you can start the program as an administrator by using the "Run as Administrator" command in the shortcut menu of the program icon (see Figure 03). Then, import the current license file.

• ### I have received a RSTAB file with the file extension .rs8t or an RFEM file with the file extension .rf5t and can not open it. What can I do?

Files with the file extension .rs8t or .rf5t have been created with the trial version of RSTAB or RFEM . These files are linked to the computer on which they were created and can therefore only be opened on the corresponding computer.

Please note that the commercial use of the trial version is not allowed.
