Modeling Bolt Connection

The simplest way to model a bolt connection in RFEM 5 is to define a node in the center of a hole, then connect it by means of internal members to the surface.

If you define these members as compression members or apply the member nonlinearity "Failure under tension", you can also simulate the hole bearing.

As an alternative, you can use a surface with the "Membrane tension - free" surface type in the opening. Again, the effect of the hole bearing can be simulated very well.
