The elastic‑plastic material model in RFEM 5 allows you to calculate surfaces and volumes with plastic material properties and to carry out a stress evaluation. This material model is based on the classic von Mises plasticity.

One advantage of the elastic-plastic calculation in RFEM is the calculation time and the number of necessary iterations. Furthermore, the material can now save plastic distortions or deformations in every load increment and use them for the next calculations steps. With this material behavior, it is thus possible to take into account the loading and unloading of a material, whereby the plastic deformation in the material is preserved.
