Using Nonlinear Elastic Material Model

With the nonlinear elastic material model in RFEM 5, you can calculate and carry out a stress analysis of surfaces and solids with nonlinear material properties.

During the calculation, this material model acts without plastic components. To compare, you can imagine a rubber-like model, which from a certain point onward only deforms and is not subject to any appreciable increase of stress. If this material is unloaded, it returns to its initial state without showing plastic deformations.

Thus, you can consider rubber, caoutchouc, or plastic materials with very high strain limits in a model.

Within the "Material Model - Isotropic Nonlinear Elastic 2D/3D" dialog box, you can define the individual steps of the stress-strain diagram as well as the diagram after the last step; see Image 01.
