Representing Simple Stages by Modifying Stiffnesses
Tips & Tricks
The “Modify Stiffness” function allows you to simulate simple stages of execution.
In the following example, internal forces and deformations are to be determined before and after removing the auxiliary columns. To this end, we define load cases for the execution stage and the final stage. Furthermore, it is important that the degrees of freedom of the supports must be specified as (a very large) spring. Otherwise, the modification is not possible.
For the load cases of the final stage, the failing supports are specified in the calculation parameters. In the “Calculation Parameters” tab, you select the “Modify stiffness” check box. Then you can specify the settings shown in the picture. Members, releases, material, and cross-section characteristics can be defined accordingly.
For the analysis of complex execution stages, you can use the RF‑/STAGES add‑on module.
