By means of result combinations, it is possible to create, among others, the envelopes for internal forces and deformations. Thus, the user finds swiftly the maximum and the minimum internal forces for later analysis. However, you should pay special attention to the display of the global deformation ‘u’. This is determined by the following formula:

u = √(uX2 + uY2 + uZ2)

The related resulting deformation for load cases and load combinations is displayed accordingly. Together with the result combinations, also the maximum deformation components of the directions are calculated. There comes up a combination of deformations resulting from different load cases that would never occur that way. The result is shown in the lowest three figures. The resulting total displacement of result combinations does not cover the maximum deformation of the load cases to be examined and these deformations do not correspond qualitatively with any of the cases.

Therefore, the total deformation should always be analysed in load cases or load combinations.
