Failing Support Conditions for Contact Surfaces
Tips & Tricks
In order to create a surface model with failing supports close to reality, there is a new option “Failure if contact perpendicular to surfaces failed” available for contact solids under “Contact Parallel to Surfaces” as of RFEM version 5.03.
Thus, the load case “Wobbling” of the modeled chair can be calculated close to reality.
Since the chair legs are represented as members, it is possible and also reasonable to use a model with a node support. Such nonlinearity (“Failure of all, if PZ' negative” in this case) is also available in RFEM 5 and RSTAB 8.
