Since there are no automated frame joints of the “continuous beam” type included in RF‑/FRAME‑JOINT Pro, you can use another option for designing this type. By using the manual definition and the “Continuous Column” type, the design of such beam combination is possible.

The most important thing is to apply and orientate forces correctly. For this, it is necessary to swap the column and beam in the input data as shown in the figure (modified Window 1.6). The example shown applies the following in the Window 1.6: The left beam becomes a column, the top column becomes the left beam and the bottom column becomes the right beam.

Furthermore, it is necessary to pay attention to the local member coordinate system, so that the forces have the right signs. In the example, the member axes are rotated accordingly until the orientations comply with the orientations in Window 1.6. At last, there must be the angle αo set to -14.04° in the example before creating the first “preliminary design of sides.”
