Hemsedal Alpine Suites, Norway

The "Hemsedal Ski Center" in the Scandinavian Alps is one of the top 3 ski resorts in Norway.

At the foot of the mountainside, a new apartment hotel with 100 modern rooms will be completed by the end of 2017.

In addition to an underground parking garage, a restaurant, and commercial units, it will contain climbing walls, among other things.

DBC AS from Gol, Norway analyzed the spatial model in RFEM and provided the internal forces to the prefabricated construction producer (concrete and steel). Furthermore, DBC AS was responsible for the detailed planning of all in situ concrete constructions.

Structure

Hemsedal Alpine Suites consists of two buildings with 6 floors each. The buildings are connected to each other by spatial steel trusses made of square pipe sections.

The model of Building A consists of 795 members and 421 surfaces. The main materials used are steel and reinforced concrete.

For the roof covering of the building, Lett‑Tak elements were used (sandwich elements with integrated thin steel sections). These elements were modeled as orthotropic surfaces with the stiffnesses determined by the Lett‑Tak company on the basis of tests.
