The German company Berliner Seilfabrik has designed and produced playground equipment for children since the 1970s. Climbing in the spatial rope net structures helps children to develop and improve their psychomotor skills and three-dimensional perception abilities. The pieces of play equipment have names like Globe, UFO, or Twist & Shout.

Heinz Bornemann, the customer of Dlubal Software, provides structural analysis and design for a wide range of this playground equipment, for example 'Globe' and various types of 'Tetragode'. For the calculation of spatial supporting structures, he uses the structural frame analysis software RSTAB.

Globe

The outer frame of the Globe play structure consists of eight curved glued-laminated beams of 12/24 cm. The inner three-dimensional net includes the ropes 'U‑Rope' developed by Berlin Seilfabrik. The outer dimensions L x W x H are approximately 4.5 m x 4.5 m x 5 m. The analysis was performed in the add‑on modules TIMBER Pro and STEEL.

Tetragode

Tetragode is a central mast play structure. A number of children can climb to great heights simultaneously. This type of Tetragode is about 6.5 m high. The spatial rope net also consists of U‑Ropes by Berliner Seilfabrik and extends from the central steel mast outwards in four directions.
