The subject of the bachelor thesis is the comparison of the stress distributions in typical steel structures. For this, the simplified manual calculation method according to the currently valid Eurocode and an FEM analysis with the relevant computer software are compared.

The results of various variants of a fin plate, a truss node and a T-stub model are analyzed and evaluated. The aim is to clarify what influence the stiffnesses of the individual connection components have on the distribution of the stress, whether deviations from a uniform distribution occur and how big the differences are between the FEM analysis and the manual calculation method.

After a short introduction to the corresponding section of the Eurocode and the modeling of the finite element software RFEM by Dlubal, the individual connections are processed and analyzed one after the other, and the distribution of stresses is evaluated. First, the connection -related question is explained and formulated, if necessary, then the calculation method according to Eurocode is presented using a calculation example. Then, the creation of the finite element models is documented and finally the results are evaluated to answer the questions.
