Dlubal Was Again Sponsor for This Year's buildingSMART Forum

Dlubal Software Sponsors buildingSMART Forum

26 November 2014

The annual buildingSMART Forum took place in Berlin this year. On Thursday, 13th November, attendees and presenters met in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt, a forum for current developments and discourse. With more than 300 participants, the event was completely booked. This demonstrates how strong the general interest in Building Information Modeling (BIM) has become.

BIM is the modern working method for planning and implementation of construction projects based on an active network of all parties involved in the construction. By using BIM, higher efficiency is achieved when planning projects.

Interesting Presentations of German and International Speakers

Once again, the German association buildingSMART e.V., of which the Dlubal company has been an active member since 2001, was the organizer. And again, Dlubal was a sponsor supporting the buildingSMART Forum and helping the association to anchor the BIM idea in civil engineering.

In the entertaining lectures of the German and international speakers, everything was about the topic of BIM.

For example Michael Thydell, BIM strategist at Sweco, presented interesting projects that were planned with the BIM method.

"3D models bring people together" said René Schumann, Managing Director from ViCon Quatar at Hochtief, during his presentation. His statement was proved by giving the example of a construction project realized in Qatar. There, an entire new town including infrastructure and stadium was planned by using the BIM method. Together, all planners created a 3D model including building objects, structural models, supply lines, etc.

The Dlubal company will continue to support the buildingSMART association as an active member in order to establish the BIM method in the world of construction.
