Design of Steel Connections in RFEM and RSTAB

Rigid and Hinged Beam Connections, Column Bases, Hollow Sections, and Tower Connections

In RFEM and RSTAB, it is possible to design connections within steel structures such as rigid and hinged beam connections, column bases, hollow sections, and tower connections according to Eurocode 3. The corresponding add‑on modules are integrated directly in the main programs RFEM and RSTAB. The advantage of this is that it is not necessary to search for the governing internal forces.

The RFEM/RSTAB load cases or load combinations are easily selected for design in the add‑on module. The connection design is then performed for unfavourable internal forces. For a good visual check, the connections are displayed in a three-dimensional view.

Add-on Module RF-/FRAME-JOINT Pro

RF-/FRAME-JOINT Pro designs rigid bolt connections between columns and horizontal beams according to Eurocode 3. Optionally, it is possible to apply tapers, stiffeners, supplementary web plates, and backing plates. The module checks the geometrical feasibility of connections with respect to the size of the wrench used for tightening screws.

Add-on Module RF-/JOINTS Steel - DSTV

RF-/JOINTS Steel - DSTV designs moment resisting and pinned I‑beam connections of members in compliance with the German guideline “Standardised Joints in Steel Structures”. The resistances are determined according to the German standard DIN EN 1993‑1‑8: Complete edition 2013.

Add-on Module RF-/JOINTS Steel - Pinned

RF-/JOINTS Steel - Pinned allows you to configure and design shear connections of I‑beams according to EC 3. Four types are available: web cleat connection, fin plate connection, short end plate connection, and end plate connection with cleat.

Add-on Module RF-/JOINTS Steel - Column Base

RF-/JOINTS Steel - Column Base designs footings of hinged and restrained column bases according to Eurocode 3. All connection types include a base plate welded around a steel column. Connections with anchors are set in concrete within the foundation.
