Structural Frame & Truss Analysis Software RSTAB 9 | Interfaces

RSTAB - Structural Engineering Analysis & Design Software

The 3D structural frame analysis program RSTAB is the ideal tool for the design of beam, frame, or truss structures consisting of steel, reinforced concrete, timber, aluminium, or other materials.

With RSTAB, you can easily and quickly define a structural model and then calculate the internal forces, deformations, and support reactions. Various add-ons that take into account the material and standard-specific requirements are available for the design.

Really Great Software

"I take this opportunity to thank you and your team for a really great software. After so many years of utilizing your software, we still see every day what your product is able to do and we really enjoy the application!

We look forward to more years together!"

RSTAB 9 has various interfaces to other software by default. This allows to easily exchange model data with CAD programs, for example.

Web Service and API

The new API technology Web Services allows you to create your own desktop or web-based applications by controlling all objects included in RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9. By providing libraries and functions, you can develop your own design checks, effective modeling of parametric structures, as well as optimization and automation processes using the programming languages Python and C#.

SAF Interface

RFEM 6 and RSTAB 9 support the data exchange using the Structural Analysis Format (SAF). The structural analysis programs offer both import and export. SAF is a file format based on MS Excel, intended to facilitate the exchange of structural analysis models between different software applications.

Microsoft Excel

For further processing or preparation of table values, RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9 provides a direct connection to Microsoft Excel. Thus, you can export the tables of RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9 individually or all at once, directly into an Excel spreadsheet. Furthermore, import is possible in RFEM 5 / RSTAB 8 (in preparation for RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9).

DXF Format (*.dxf)

The DXF file format is one of the most common data exchange formats available in the CAD area. DXF files can be imported as well as exported.

IFC Interface in RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9

The IFC interface (Industry Foundation Classes) is divided into several areas, the so-called Views. Also, there are various versions of the IFC format. Version 4.0 is supported for both the import and the export. The older version 2x3 is only supported for the import. Regardless of the exchange direction, it is possible to process the StructuralAnalysisView as well as the ReferenceView (Coordination View).

When importing the ReferenceView, the individual IFC objects can be converted into the RFEM-native elements. The cross-section and material descriptions can be adjusted using the conversion tables. The export in the ReferenceView allows you to display the structure in IFC viewers and CAD programs. StructuralAnalysisView allows you to transfer the structural model including loading.

Background Layers

Background layers are used to simplify the modeling process and can be underlain in the work window of RFEM 6 / RSTAB 9 to facilitate the input of graphical objects.
