Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

AnswerIn RX‑TIMBER, you can create a user-defined material as a new material in the material library (see the figure), similar to the programs RFEM/RSTAB.In contrast to RFEM/RSTAB, the category is set to "timber" in this case.
AnswerIf this error occurs, the download did not run correctly. Please download the program again. Please note that the file can only be executed after the complete download.
AnswerGenerally, the licensing requires two things:The license key can be provided via a USB dongle or via a network softlock on a central company server. For the licensing from a client, it is necessary to have a permanent connection to the server. Once a license has been assigned, it is visible on the web-based license interface at http://localhost:1947/_int_/sessions.html. The automatic time-out after 12 hours of inactivity prevents the license from being permanently assigned and, releases it to other users.
With the most recent generation of license keys, it is possible to activate 50 licenses for each program and add-on module. This means that you can access RFEM and RF‑STEEL EC3 from a maximum of 50 computers at the same time.

AnswerSection 6.1.5 (4) of Eurocode 5 requires to apply the smaller transversal compression coefficient of kc,90 for the concentrated loads that are close to the support. As an option, it is possible to deactivate the support pressure design in the RX‑TIMBER program and set the corresponding transversal compression stiffening. If the entered concentrated load is not relevant for design, there is the additional option to assign the user-defined transversal compression factor (Figure 03).
Whether the download of RFEM or RSTAB is displayed or not in the Download section of your Dlubal Account, depends on whether you have a service contract for the respective product or not.If a service contract has been concluded for the respective product, the links for this product are visible. If no service contract has been concluded, no links are visible. If you purchase RFEM or RSTAB without the service contract at a specific time, you are entitled to use this program version. If you need the download link for the purchased program version, you can download it on our homepage in the "Previous Program Versions" section.See the link to "Download Previous Versions" below.
AnswerYes, it is possible. In the "Loads" window of the add-on module, you can modify the loads by using the "Show Generated Loads... or Define Additional Loads..." button (see Figure 01).
AnswerUnfortunately, the calculator implemented in Windows 10 is not compatible with our programs. You can use, for example, the "Copy" option to paste the values into the clipboard and then paste them into the program in order to still use the calculator. A better alternative is to replace the Windows 10 calculator with Windows 7 or Windows 8. There are sufficient instructions on the Internet to carry out this procedure. It is only necessary to make sure that the calc.exe file in the Windows folder C:\Windows\System32 runs the old calculator afterwards. The Windows 7 calculator can then be used as usual after importing the results.
AnswerTo open an RX‑TIMBER file in RFEM or RSTAB, select the "All Files (*.*)" option as "File Type" (see Figure 01). Thus, the geometric data, loads and load combinations will be imported. The settings relevant for the design, such as shear force reduction, fire protection definitions, serviceability limit state parameters, an so on, are not transferred and must be redefined in RF‑/TIMBER Pro.
If the model does not appear in the work window, you can display the view using the "Show Whole Model" option (see Figure 02).
AnswerIn contrast to RFEM and RSTAB, the language settings in the RX‑TIMBER add-on module can be found in Project Manager of the program. You can find the corresponding setting under "Edit" in the menu bar (see Figure 01).
AnswerBy default, the graphic is only printed in the report at more than 40% of the page height. In some cases, it may be useful to display the graphic printout over the entire height of the page and to rotate the graphic by 90 ° (see Figure 02). Normally, it should be sufficient to display the dimensions with two decimal places in order to save space. This setting can be defined in the menu "Units and Decimal Places" (see Figure 03). Finally, the auxiliary lines can be shortened and the font size can be reduced (see Figure 04). A font size of 5 should be sufficient for an A4 printout. To select a small font size, you should use the "Small Fonts" font. The finished result is shown in Figure 05.

Wind Simulation & Wind Load Generation
With the stand-alone program RWIND Simulation, wind flows around simple or complex structures can be simulated by means of a digital wind tunnel.
The generated wind loads acting on these objects can be imported to RFEM or RSTAB.
“Thank you for the valuable information.
I would like to pay a compliment to your support team. I am always impressed how quickly and professionally the questions are answered. I have used a lot of software with a support contract in the field of structural analysis, but your support is by far the best. ”
