The “Corni” Sports Hall in Modena combines modern mass timber engineering with respect for the city’s historical context. The sports hall stands out through its elegant structural design and a highly coordinated digital workflow.💥
Key elements include 25.5-meter glulam portals, 2.20-meter deep beams, and custom-designed steel connections, enabling both structural efficiency and architectural refinement.💫
A major design challenge was the use of tapered vertical timber elements, reducing visual mass while maintaining full structural integrity, which was achieved by close collaboration between engineers and architect Bruno De Pietri.
Structural analysis was performed in RFEM 5, including RF-DYNAM Pro, to ensure stability and performance under all load conditions. A 100% BIM-driven process supported seamless coordination from design to construction.
