Installation RFEM RSTAB

I have installed the Dlubal Software programs including add-on modules as an Administrator in Windows 7. On this account, the programs run without any problems. However, if I log in as a User on my computer, I can no longer access the Dlubal Software programs.

The installation of the Dlubal Software programs RFEM, RSTAB, SHAPE‑THIN, and others, require administrator rights. It is recommended to use administrator rights as well when starting the software for the first time. If no error message is displayed, then you can assign the rights for running the Dlubal Software programs also to other users.

User rights can be assigned only by the administrator.

Rights for Folders

A User of Dlubal Software programs needs write and read access rights for the following folders:

  • Dlubal Software program folders RFEM 5.xx, RSTAB 8.xx, SHAPE‑THIN 7 (x86) etc. For example in Windows 7 64‑bit, you can find these folders in the directory

    C:\Program Files\Dlubal or C:\Programs(x86)\Dlubal.

  • Dlubal Software master data folder General Data. Each program has the own master data folder. For example in Windows 7 64‑bit, you can find the folder in the directory

    C:\ProgramData\Dlubal\RFEM 5.xx,

    C:\ProgramData\Dlubal\RSTAB 8.xx,

    C:\ProgramData\Dlubal\SHAPE-THIN 7 (x.86) etc.

  • Dlubal Software project folders

  • Folders of temporary files. For example in Windows 7, you can find the folders in the directory

    C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Dlubal\Temp or

C:\Users\"sign-in name"\AppData\Local\Temp\Dlubal. You can check the path of the working directory in the "Program Options" dialog box of RFEM or RSTAB.

The rights can be assigned using the Explorer: Select the folder and open the properties. Then, in the "Security" tab, you can define full access for a particular User or User group, for example.

Rights for Registry

In addition, a User needs write and read access the following registry entries:

These rights can be assigned in the registry editor, which you can open by entering the command regedit in the start menu text box. Set the path and select the DLUBAL entry. Then you can define full access for a particular User or User group by selecting Permissions in the Edit menu.
