Installation RFEM RSTAB

I have installed the Dlubal Software programs including add-on modules as an Administrator. On this account, the programs run without any problems. However, if I log in as a User on my computer, I can no longer access the Dlubal Software programs.

Answer

The installation of the Dlubal Software programs RFEM, RSTAB, SHAPE‑THIN, and others, require administrator rights. It is recommended to use administrator rights as well when starting the software for the first time. If no error message is displayed, then you can assign the rights for running the Dlubal Software programs also to other users.

User rights can be assigned only by the administrator.

Rights for Folders

A User of Dlubal Software programs needs write and read access rights for the following folders:

  • Dlubal Software program folders RSTAB 8.xx, RFEM 5.xx, SHAPE‑THIN 8.xx, RX-TIMBER 2.xx etc. By default, those folders are located in the directory

    C:\Program Files\Dlubal.

  • Dlubal Software master data folder General Data. Each program has its own master data folder. You can find the folder in the directory

    C:\ProgramData\Dlubal.

  • Folders of your projects

  • Folder of temporary files. By default, this folder is located in the directory

C:\Users\"sign-in name"\AppData\Local\Temp\Dlubal. You can check the path of the working directory in the Program Options dialog box of RFEM/RSTAB.

The rights can be assigned using the Explorer: select the folder and open the properties. Then, in the Security tab, you can define full access for a User group or for a particular user, for example.

Rights for Registry

In addition, a User needs write and read access the following registry entries:

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\DLUBAL

  • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\DLUBAL

  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\DLUBAL

These rights can be assigned in the registry editor that you open by entering the command regedit in the start menu. Set the path and select the DLUBAL entry. Then you can define full access for a particular User or User group by selecting Permissions in the Edit menu.

Find more information in the video User Rights.
