Donation Handover to Firefighters and First Responders

Spring is a season when everything comes to life. The cold, dark wintertime ends and nature shows itself again from its most beautiful side. We at Dlubal Software would also like to contribute to new beginnings and support important regional institutions!

On March 3, Dlubal Software handed over donation checks for € 300 each to the first responders and the volunteer fire brigade in Tiefenbach, Germany. The Tiefenbach Volunteer Fire Brigade (FFW) ensures that the region is safe in dangerous situations. We appreciate that, and are happy to support you! Whether future investments in new equipment or the next excursion together: We are sure that the money is well invested here.

The donation of € 300 for the first responders "Helfer von Ort" were spent directly on the new Ford Kuga, including first-aid equipment. For the region, a new vehicle means that medical aid can be sent within a very short period of time. In rural areas in particular, an ambulance often takes longer than intended – this is where the “Helfer von Ort” association of first responders fills an important gap. We're happy to support these committed lifesavers!

Dlubal Software regularly supports charitable organizations in the region. Just last December, Daniel Dlubal, the COO of Dlubal Software, gave the local first responders a donation cheque for € 500. We appreciate the work of these local associations!

Using the Timber Design add-on, timber column design is possible according to the 2018 NDS standard ASD method. Accurately calculating timber member compressive capacity and adjustment factors is important for safety considerations and design. The following article will verify the maximum critical buckling strength calculated by the Timber Design add-on using step-by-step analytical equations as per the NDS 2018 standard including the compressive adjustment factors, adjusted compressive design value, and final design ratio.

RWIND 2 is a program for generating wind loads based on CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). The wind flow numerical simulation is generated around any building, including irregular or unique geometry types, to determine the wind loads on surfaces and members. RWIND 2 can be integrated with RFEM/RSTAB for the structural analysis and design or as a stand-alone application.

Improved Calculation Performance by Optimized Consideration of Nodal Degrees of Freedom in RFEM

The number of degrees of freedom in a node is no longer a global calculation parameter in RFEM (6 degrees of freedom for each mesh node in 3D models, 7 degrees of freedom for the warping torsion analysis). Thus, each node is generally considered with a different number of degrees of freedom, which leads to a variable number of equations in the calculation.

This modification speeds up the calculation, especially for models where a significant reduction of the system could be achieved (for example, trusses and membrane structures).
