Dynamic Analysis for RFEM 6

The Modal Analysis add-on allows you to quickly and conveniently analyze natural frequencies and mode shapes for member, surface, and solid models.

The add-on includes an optimized input workflow. All required input values are imported directly from RFEM. You can also use powerful eigenvalue solvers (such as Lanczos, subspace iteration, and others) to calculate up to 9,999 eigenvalues.

Interested in a seismic analysis for your design project? Then the Response Spectrum Analysis add-on is right for you. Using the multi-modal response spectrum method, the program carries out a full seismic analysis so you can be sure of the stability of your project. You can create user-defined response spectra or automatically generate them from the various standards.

The input parameters, which are relevant for the selected standards, are suggested by the program in accordance with the rules. Furthermore, you can enter response spectra manually. Load cases of the type Response Spectrum Analysis define the direction in which response spectra act and which eigenvalues of the structure are relevant for the analysis.

The Time History Analysis add-on allows you to perform dynamic structural analysis of external excitation. You can define various excitation functions in tables or as a function of time. The time history analysis is performed using the modal analysis or the linear implicit Newmark analysis.

In RFEM, you can combine user-defined time diagrams with nodal, member, and surface loads, as well as free and generated loads. It is also possible to combine several independent excitation functions. A linear implicit Newmark analysis or a modal analysis are available for the calculation in Time History Analysis. Structural damping can be defined using Rayleigh damping coefficients or Lehr's damping value.

Earthquakes may have a significant impact on the deformation behavior of buildings. Pushover Analysis allows you to analyze the deformation behavior of buildings and compare them with seismic actions. Using the Pushover Analysis add-on, you can analyze the seismic actions on a particular building and thus assess whether the building can withstand an earthquake. The method identifies deformations and damage by creating a capacity curve, taking into account nonlinear static properties.

It is compared to seismic actions, supported by the add-on with libraries in Eurocode 8. The results are presented graphically and in tables for easy evaluation.
