Retrospect: End and Beginning

The Dlubal Podcast with Daniel Dlubal and Martina Summerer ran for two years and has 50 episodes now. Every two weeks, there was a new episode with varied topics and interesting guests. Then, it was time for Martina to break new ground, strike out on a new path. Together, we look back on this instructive and exciting time. What was her experience, and most importantly – what will happen next?

After two years of Dlubal Podcast, Martina has decided to get back more into practice. She would like to apply all the innovations and new features that we heard about in the previous episodes. An exciting thing in any case! Anyway, how did she actually come to Dlubal? In 2020, she saw in a video that Dlubal was looking for a very special civil engineer, and she applied directly.

  • "I thought: That's exactly what I want to do."

Her work was indeed special and varied. The podcast, including its preparation and follow-up, was a big part of that, of course. As a pioneer in podcasts on the digital and innovative trends in the construction industry, we have set an important milestone. Whether digitization with BIM, disasters in construction, or new trends, such as modular and timber structures: our subject areas were exciting and were enthusiastically received by the community.

After her employment as a student trainee, she expanded her activities as a full-time employee. As a branch manager of the Munich office, she always did her best to support the working students there. In addition to the podcast, Martina maintained the blog and mainly dealt with marketing. This included, for example, creating social media posts.

What she particularly liked about her work was the variety of podcast topics and the largely positive feedback on the inquiries to potential interview guests. After the first episodes, many of them got in touch by themselves and asked if they could take part in our podcast.

  • "We learned something new in each episode. I found it very interesting to see what is already out there and what areas can be built upon to make the construction industry more sustainable and innovative."

Did you know? Our podcast is very successful for a real niche area! By mid-2022 alone, our episodes had about 13,000 downloads. On average, an episode had about 5,000 views – a respectable number. And over 3,500 listeners followed the Dlubal Podcast as loyal followers.

But let us turn away from previous figures and data. Let us get to much more important questions: How will it go on? We have an answer to that now! The Dlubal Podcast will be continued. While the episodes are no longer released every two weeks, exciting new topics are regularly discussed that are sure to interest you.

Let's close this episode with something familiar. Martina, what would you advise the listeners out there?

  • "Do what you really enjoy, because you spend so much time at work. ""

We think so, too. After all, the job is only really fun if you are passionate about it. Thank you for 50 episodes and two years of Dlubal Podcast together!

As always, of course, we still have the mandatory final question: Martina, what is your favorite building? She smiles and tells us that so far, it has always been the Pantheon in Rome. The ancient structure had the largest dome in the world for over 2,000 years. For the time, that is really more than impressive.

Since Martina lived in Greece for a year, she also addresses the Acropolis. Like the Pantheon, the architecture of these ancient witnesses is just fascinating. We can fully understand that, of course. Thank you very much for this last episode together and good luck in your future career, Martina!
