Static design and assessment of steel structures for the extension of the shopping center "Westfield Černý Most" in Prague. This part of the project describes the extension of the northeastern corner, enlarging the existing food and beverage area.
Part of the project addressing the ceiling of the 3rd floor passage. The existing void will be largely covered as part of the construction modifications, and its extent will be reduced to two smaller voids with an irregular oval shape.
Project for the extension and building modifications of the “Westfield Černý Most” shopping center in Prague. An extension of the cinema halls at the level of the existing rooftop parking area and roofing over the arcade with a parapet height of 16.2 m.
As part of the building modifications, the floor at the level of the 2nd floor was partially demolished, and at the same time, due to a change of use, the imposed load on the ceiling at the level of the 1st floor was increased, which led to the need to strengthen the existing structure.
From an architectural point of view, the most impressive structural component of the Černý Most shopping mall is the partially glazed roof above the food court. The featured steel structure was built for this roof.
The project involved designing a steel structure for the Westfield Černý Most expansion, including a new flat roof and skylight. Key challenges included integrating with the existing building and optimizing large truss girders and roof purlins for load distribution and stability.
