Global Options

This chapter describes the Global Options section in the "Building Stories" dialog box .

Story Height Modification

There are three options in the list that you can use to control the story height in the case of changes.

  • Fixed to top: All other nodes keep their absolute position in relation to the top height.
  • Fixed to bottom: All other nodes keep their absolute position in relation to the bottom height.
  • Proportionally: All other nodes within the boundaries of the modified story keep their relative position with respect to the top and bottom boundaries.

The options for modifying the story height only affect the inner nodes of the respective story. For example, if you increase the story height from 3 m to 4 m, the "Fixed to top" option will keep an inner node of a divided member or an opening the same distance from the top of the story. The distance to the bottom point of the story will increase by 1 m.

Story Height Definition

The list offers two options:

  • Effective height: The story height refers to the central axes of the floor surfaces.
  • Clear height: You can customize the thickness of the floor surfaces in the "Story Dimension" section. This option is also useful for displaying the net height (clear height) of a story.

Story Slab Stiffness

If you select the "Rigid diaphragm" entry, couplings are applied to the centroid of the respective floor slab at each FE node.
