Results by Story

The results for each story are displayed in the tables as Results by Story under "Static Analysis" (or "Spectral Analysis" in the case of a dynamic analysis).

The following tables are available:

  • Story Actions
  • Interstory Drifts
  • Centers of Mass and Rigidity
  • Forces in Shear Walls
  • Forces in Spandrels (for discontinuous walls)

The results of the tables are explained using the Building model example in Chapter Results in Sections.

Story Actions

Apart from minor numerical deviations in this model, the resulting story force in the individual stories is easy to follow.

  • Floor 3: 80 kN
  • Floor 2: 120 kN
  • Floor 1: 140 kN
  • Floor 0: 150 kN

As a result, a total of 150 kN is transferred through the building in the X direction. Due to the symmetry of the building, the center of gravity of each story or the position of the resulting story forces is exactly in the center of the building.

Interstory Drifts

The "Interstory Drifts" table shows the displacements of each story. All of them refer to the center of gravity – that is, the position of the resulting story forces according to the Story Actions table.

In the event of a shift in the center of gravity in the X, Y, and Z directions, the local deformations, for example, of the upper member, can thus deviate from the deformations shown in this table. In our simple example, the nodal deformations of the center of gravity are the same.

In addition to the displacement, the "Interstory Drifts" table also shows the difference in the displacement of the individual stories.

Centers of Mass and Rigidity

The "Centers of Mass and Rigidity" table lists the masses of each story. Furthermore, the summarized masses including the center of mass are displayed.
